Bloom Public Health has commenced a series of training and capacity building with the Nigeria Natural Medicine Development Agency (NNMDA) Laboratory Team to achieve the ISO 17025:2017 Accreditation. The training is the first activity produced as a result of the strategic partnership signed by Bloom Public health and NNMDA to improve the research and development of Natural Medicines in Nigeria.
Bloom Public Health’s experts foresee the completion of the training in Q3, 2021, and this provides an avenue for Bloom Public Health to further advance its ethos of “Achieving Better Health Care in Africa”. The organization acknowledges Natural Medicines as an important facet of the African pharmaceutical industry, their usage in Nigeria, and their availability as a key resource in the healthcare system in the country. Bloom Public Health sees the training as one of the catalysts in NNMDA’s advancement on standardization of Natural Medicines in Nigeria.
Bloom Public Health’s Programme Manager, Mrs. Uju Nwabuzor stated that “Nigeria cannot think of healthcare without including Natural Medicines. The partnership with NNMDA couldn’t have come at a better time as the COVID 19 pandemic has shown the need for us to look inwards to meet some of our Medicine requirements. The NNMDA lab and accreditation is going to be a great asset to Nigeria’s healthcare delivery systems, it will encourage a lot of research and development in medicine in the country”.
Based on the earlier signed Memorandum of Understanding between both parties, Bloom Public Health will further collaborate with the NNMDA as a trusted partner in providing technical assistance on the capacity building of its personnel.
The Nigeria Natural Medicine Development Agency (NNMDA)was established in 1997 to enable the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Federal Ministry of Science & Technology (FMST) to actualize its critical and strategic mandate to research, develop, document, preserve, conserve and promote Nigeria’s Natural Medicine (Traditional/indigenous Healthcare systems, medications, and non-medication healing arts, science & Technology) and assist facilitate their integration into the National Healthcare Delivery System.
