Bloom Public Health is honored to announce its inclusion in the expanded Lassa Fever Coalition, an initiative led by the West African Health Organisation (WAHO) and supported by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI). Alongside esteemed partners Corona Management Systems and Nigeria Health Watch, Bloom Public Health will contribute to strengthening regional efforts to combat Lassa fever and expedite the development and equitable distribution of vaccines across West Africa.
This strategic collaboration was unveiled during the 26th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Assembly of Health Ministers held in Praia, Cabo Verde. The coalition comprises Ministers of Health from the countries most affected by Lassa fever—Benin, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone—and aims to foster a locally led, regionally coordinated response to the disease.
Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate, Nigeria’s Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare and Chair of the ECOWAS Assembly of Health Ministers, emphasized the significance of this expansion:
