A high-level delegation from Nigeria, including leaders from Bloom Public Health, Afriserve, and key Nigerian States’ health authorities, visited China to discuss sustainable model in Aerial logistics in the delivery of healthcare commodities amongst other types of drone logistics in Africa last week. The delegation included Bloom Public Health’s CEO, Professor Chimezie Anyakora; Hon. Dr. Adaeze Oreh, Commissioner for Health, Rivers State; Hon. Musa Adamu Funtua, Commissioner for Health, Katsina State; and Charles Fredrick Halliday, Coordinator of Logistics Management, Rivers State Service Commission.
Drones enhance speed, reducing delivery times, which is crucial in emergency situations where delays can have severe consequences. They also offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional transportation, reducing the need for costly infrastructure in rural regions. In addition, drones are a sustainable option, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and minimizing environmental impact. Their precision ensures that supplies are delivered directly to the right locations, minimizing waste and increasing supply chain efficiency.
Bloom Public Health, in partnership with Afriserve, is excited to lead the way in integrating drone technology into Africa’s medicine supply chain. This innovation marks a significant step toward improving healthcare delivery across the continent. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this technology on healthcare access and outcomes across the continent.
