Zalalem Mamo Sahile
Country Director
Zelalem Mamo brings over 25 years of experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control of pharmaceuticals, having served in diverse roles across pharmaceutical industries, regulatory authorities, and bioequivalence studies. His career reflects a deep commitment to strengthening pharmaceutical systems and ensuring the quality and safety of medicines across Africa and beyond.
He served as Chief of Party for USP/PQM+ in Ethiopia, leading transformative interventions in the pharmaceutical sector and supporting numerous local manufacturers toward World Health Organization Prequalification.
His expertise spans:
- Regulatory system strengthening across multiple countries
- Quality management system implementation and accreditation under standards such as ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ISO 4074, ISO/IEC 15189:2022, ISO 17034:2016, ISO 20387:2018, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001
- International auditing with bodies like ANAB, Ethiopian Accreditation Service, and Perry Johnson Registrars, Inc.
- Post-marketing surveillance development and deployment in regions including Ethiopia, IGAD, and ECOWAS
He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Chemistry, and MSc in Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Assurance from Addis Ababa University, as well as an MBA in Project Management from Lead Star College. He is also a Certified Quality Auditor by the American Society for Quality.
