Bloom Public Health and Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority Partner to Strengthen Regulatory Systems
June 30, 2026The collaboration will strengthen laboratory systems, expand bioequivalence research, and support the local production of quality-assured medical products.
Bloom Public Health Ethiopia has entered into a strategic partnership with the Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) to strengthen public health research, enhance laboratory systems, and advance healthcare innovation in Ethiopia.
Formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the collaboration establishes a framework for joint research, technical cooperation, and institutional capacity building aimed at supporting Ethiopia’s growing pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

A key focus of the partnership is the advancement of bioequivalence studies, which play a critical role in demonstrating that generic medicines meet internationally accepted standards for quality, safety, and therapeutic effectiveness. Strengthening this capability will contribute to improving the quality of locally manufactured medicines while supporting Ethiopia’s ambition to expand domestic pharmaceutical production.
The partnership will also promote collaboration in laboratory systems strengthening, scientific research, knowledge exchange, and healthcare innovation, creating new opportunities to enhance technical capacity and generate evidence that informs policy, regulation, and public health practice.
By combining Bloom Public Health’s expertise in pharmaceutical systems strengthening and health systems development with AHRI’s internationally recognized research capabilities, the collaboration is expected to accelerate scientific innovation and support the development of a stronger, more resilient healthcare ecosystem in Ethiopia.
As Bloom Public Health continues to expand its presence across Africa, strategic partnerships with leading research institutions remain central to its mission of strengthening health systems, advancing scientific excellence, and improving equitable access to safe, effective, and quality-assured medical products.
