Stakeholders from across Zambia’s pharmaceutical sector convened in Lusaka for the National Stakeholders Dialogue on Advancing Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Related Regulatory Compliance, reaffirming a shared commitment to strengthening local pharmaceutical manufacturing and improving regulatory standards.
The dialogue brought together representatives from government institutions, regulatory authorities, pharmaceutical manufacturers, development partners, and other key stakeholders to examine practical strategies for building a competitive, resilient, and internationally compliant pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem in Zambia.
Discussions focused on the critical role of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) in ensuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicines while enhancing the competitiveness of locally manufactured pharmaceutical products. Participants also explored opportunities to strengthen regulatory compliance, improve manufacturing capacity, promote industry collaboration, and create an enabling environment for sustainable sector growth.



The forum provided a valuable platform for technical presentations, knowledge exchange, and cross-sector dialogue, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in addressing shared challenges and accelerating the development of Zambia’s pharmaceutical industry. Through meaningful engagement between policymakers, regulators, manufacturers, and development partners, the dialogue highlighted the collective responsibility required to advance manufacturing excellence and improve access to quality-assured medicines.
