Bloom Public Health Meets MedipoolNG on Health Outcomes in Nigeria
August 5, 2026On August 4, 2026, Bloom Public Health, Sydani Group, Erba Mannheim, and Worldwide Ventures Ltd., in partnership with the Anambra State Government, kicked off a weeklong medical outreach in five communities aimed at deepening access to affordable diagnostic services across the State. This is being implemented under the Anambra State Laboratory Optimization Project (ASLOP).
According to the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Obiageli Uchebo, the project is designed to make laboratory investigations cheaper and more accessible, especially for people in communities with limited income. Services such as full blood count, liver function tests, and fasting lipid profile are now available at highly subsidised rates in selected general hospitals, with patients who test positive for conditions like HIV, Hepatitis B, diabetes, or high blood pressure counselled and referred for further care.
ASLOP is currently running at General Hospital Okpoko and will soon extend to General Hospital Agulu, Oraifite, and Nkpor, bringing affordable lab services to even more communities. Dr. Uchebo commended Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo (the State Governor) for supporting the initiative and creating an enabling environment for improved healthcare delivery across the state.
In Okpoko General Hospital, in Ogbaru LGA, over 200 residents turned out for free laboratory services.
Beneficiaries at Okpoko shared how the outreach has impacted them. Ekezie Chijioke said Governor Soludo has “done a great job for the people of Okpoko.” Nkiru Ezebuilo added, “We did not have this kind of hospital before, but today we have access to quality healthcare.”
One story that stayed with us: Ginika Igwe welcomed her baby girl free of charge at Okpoko General Hospital during the outreach.
Dr. Uchebo, who monitored the exercise herself, described ASLOP’s core mission as bringing lab services closer to people, especially in communities that are otherwise hard to reach, so diseases can be caught early and treated on time.
It’s always encouraging to see this partnership recognised and celebrated, both by the Ministry and by the communities it’s reaching.
