Bloom Public Health Expands Regional Presence with Cameroon Office
April 30, 2021On behalf of the Advisory Board, Management, and staff of Bloom, it is my pleasure to present an account of activities at Bloom Public Health in the last year, March 2020 to March 2021.
In the year under review, we met strategic milestones and achieved critical targets that have gone a long way in providing support to the health systems in Africa. Despite the global pandemic, these were achieved by the dedication of our staff working on various projects across Africa. Guided by an unwavering commitment to creating African driven solutions to solve African public health issues, especially in the pharmaceutical sector, we partnered with different African countries and their agencies. In addition, we also partnered with international organizations , local pharmaceutical manufacturers in the private sector, and other healthcare ecosystem partners to launch and sustain projects that will improve lives in Africa.
One such projects is the Africa-wide PIC/S Initiative (AwPI ). Bloom Public Health in partnership with Oakes Group Global and LCK Pharmaceutical Consulting, held a successful AwPI workshop where several African Medicine Regulatory Agencies (MRAs) participated. The objective of AwPI is to encourage and prepare African Medicines Regulatory Agencies to ascend to PIC/S membership by implementing and maintaining harmonized GMP standards, which will ensure the availability of quality medicines for Africans. Another exciting project is the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Park (PharmaCity). This is an intervention that brings all key pharmaceutical sector stakeholders including the government, academia, professionals, and the private sector to revolutionize local drug manufacturing and reposition Nigeria to benefit from freer trade on the continent while increasing exports to other African countries and beyond.
These two initiatives struck a chord with me. I look forward to African countries developing in their levels of pharmaceutical maturity. I hope for a time when the pharmaceutical systems in various African countries will become a model for excellent QMS and GMP standards. These two initiatives are just a few of the various successes we achieved in the past year, and more details about these and other Bloom Public Health projects will be provided in this report.
Conclusion
The past year has been remarkable despite the pandemic, the coming years promise to be even more productive for Bloom Public Health as it prepares to take on groundbreaking and significantly impactful projects across Africa. We hope to expand our presence and reach in many other African countries by replicating and scaling up the projects that have shown success in the countries we are currently working.
That being said, I am pleased to note that Bloom remains fully committed to supporting the work of various organizations, whose mandate is to advance healthcare in Africa. We believe in partnerships that will ensure sustainability and impact.
I am also grateful for the continued support of my Advisory Board, Directors, Team Leads, staff of Bloom Public Health, and our partners, whose insight enables us to deploy our resources strategically towards ensuring an enduring and positive impact on the healthcare systems on the continent of Africa.
Thank you to everyone and Best wishes in the coming year.
