October 6, 2026India is often called the pharmacy of the world, and any serious conversation about medicine access has to include it. Its manufacturers supply a large share of the medicines that reach patients across Africa and beyond.
On 5 to 6 September and 9 to 10 September 2026, our CEO, Professor Chimezie, was in New Delhi for IPHEX 2026. He met with key players across the pharmaceutical ecosystem, including regulators, manufacturers of finished pharmaceutical products and starting materials, technical service providers, and supply chain partners.
Growing local manufacturing in Africa depends on strong links with the countries that already lead in pharmaceutical production. Talking with the people who make, regulate, and move medicines is not optional. It is a necessary step toward a more reliable supply of quality medicines close to the people who need them.
Bloom Public Health is currently engaging several stakeholders on pharmaceutical parks across Nigeria. The conversations in New Delhi add to that work by building relationships and sharing knowledge that can support local production at home.
We will keep working with partners in Nigeria, India, and across Africa to make medicines more available and more affordable.
