Bloom Public Health Cameroon Supports National Measles Vaccination Campaign

Bloom Public Health Cameroon is supporting national efforts to curb measles outbreaks through advocacy, public awareness, and continued investment in vaccine systems strengthening across Africa.

The Ministry of Public Health of Cameroon will conduct a targeted measles outbreak response vaccination campaign from 13–17 August 2025 across nine health districts in the Littoral, Centre, East, North, and South West regions.

The campaign aims to vaccinate all eligible children aged 9 months to 9 years, irrespective of their previous vaccination status, as part of an emergency response to confirmed measles outbreaks. The intervention is designed to interrupt disease transmission, prevent severe complications, and protect vulnerable children from one of the world’s most contagious vaccine-preventable diseases.

Measles remains a significant public health concern, particularly in communities with low immunization coverage. Beyond causing fever and rash, the disease can lead to life-threatening complications including pneumonia, encephalitis, blindness, and death. Vaccination continues to be the safest, most effective, and most cost-efficient intervention for preventing outbreaks and protecting population health.

Bloom Public Health Cameroon joins national health authorities, development partners, and healthcare professionals in encouraging parents and caregivers to ensure that every eligible child receives this life-saving vaccine. Community participation remains essential to achieving high vaccination coverage and preventing further transmission.
